What Is Metabolic Testing?
The MedGem is what I use to test metabolism. The MedGem measures metabolism by indirect calorimeter which determines your resting metabolic rate (RMR) with a 97% accuracy! Knowing your RMR you can better understand the exact amount of calories your body needs to meet your nutrition and health goals.
How Does It Work?
This is a 10-15 minute non- invasive breathing test. You must be fasted meaning no food, no exercise, no caffeine, and no nicotine for at least 4 hours prior to the test. After you finish the breathing test, your test will interact with software that will calculate your resting metabolic rate (RMR). The breathing test and software provide us with the specific number of calories you need to lose, gain, or maintain your weight. It’s really that simple!

Is It Covered By Insurance?
The metabolic test is an out-of-pocket expense of $75 per test! This service can help with better weight management and/or improved athletic performance and can be paired with your insurance-covered nutrition counseling sessions!
